Impervious, smooth surfaces, such as concrete sidewalks or streets, generally make it easier for the everyday user to get around. However, when it rains this becomes a completely different story. With heavy rain or snow fall, water quickly amasses and pools in every crevice, often at the junction of a sidewalk and a street.  As an avid walker, I wanted to call attention to this hazard, especially within the town of Northampton, and propose a lighting installation which will both help light a major walkway and call attention to the issues of large amounts of impervious surfaces.
